    Description:Facilitator(s):
    Aimee deNoyelles, University of Central Florida
    Amanda Major, University of Central Florida
    Dennis Walpole, University of South Florida

    Abstract:
    The StateUniversity System of Florida Board of Governor’s 2025 Strategic Plan for OnlineEducation recommends that institutions implement an online course review process with two levels of recognition (Quality and High Quality). If you are using Quality Matters, OSCQR, OLC’s Quality Scorecard, or your own institution’s quality course review system, implementing the standards set by the state could leave you baffled. As a method for making meaning and gaining clarification about state recommendations, participants will:

    · Review the state strategic tactic Quality 1.1.3.
    · Gauge their institutional progress towards meeting those standards.
    · Identify opportunities and challenges to achieving the standards.
    · Offer their own experience for overcoming stated barriers.

    Here are the new UF + QM Standards. Items in blue are UF-specific, the others are from QM. Note the additional teaching behaviors. These will generally be reviewed with help from the student evaluations (we are currently updating our questions to help with this.)

    It would be nice to have a pool of reviewers available to conduct reviews for the quality state initiative course review effort, as Alex has created with COTE hub. I wonder if starting a Google Sheets and circulating that for sign up would be all that it would take. I am curious to know, too, how many institutions are providing a stipend to reviewers or some type of recognition program . . .

    Many thanks to the presenters for this session. I’m on the BOG Quality Workgroup myself and found this to be the clearest presentation of what’s happening that I’ve seen so far.

      Joe, thank you! It’s funny; doing this presentation forced me to really think through and articulate the Quality plan, so I certainly learned something as well. It was really beneficial to see how others are interpreting and acting on it.
