Learning Objectives:
• Explain the importance and benefits of web accessibility for people with disabilities and older people
• List common barriers experienced by people with disabilities and older people
• Understand that UDL Guidelines are the international standard for web accessibilityAbstract: Learn how you can make easy changes and additions to your online courses in order to create an inclusive course environment for all students. The purpose of this course is to introduce participants to the basics of accessibility, with emphasis placed on making content accessible while promoting proactive (as opposed to reactive) steps that people can take to create and advocate for accessible content. Test your own skills, and that of your institution, by running an Online Course Design and Review checklist, share lessons learned and develop contextualization of UDL. This session seeks to help explain all aspects of inclusion, gain a clearer understanding of how to relate real-world web accessibility and usability, and define what true digital accessibility and inclusion can be.
