Good question. Rubrics to review classroom courses and programs are few and far between. I found two.

Hi Mike,
UF is interested. We are a QM subscriber, and QM review is an option, but we haven’t pushed hard on it partially due to cost.

Geni’s comment about the QM rubric, and the UF Standards rubric for that matter being focused on course design is spot-on. To tell you the truth, as we developed the UF Standards, we were very careful not to stop on the departments’ ownership of the teaching process. That said, departmental peer review committees need some guidance in order to…[Read more]

Your question about students submitting inaccessible group work and how to prevent it is definitely worth considering. I would suggest describing in the instructions of the assignment that a student could submit their group work in a format accessible to all students and provide some instructions about how to achieve that format, for instance, by…[Read more]

I really like the idea of creating a course enabling faculty to explore new tools. Providing faculty information about accessibility, pricing, and trial period of each tool, as well as some ideas for how to use the tools to achieve pedagogical goals could prove very beneficial. Not only would this resource make it easier for faculty to make…[Read more]

You’re welcome! I”m planning to have some “clever” postcards printed to use for this purpose. We might not get much action over the summer, but I can report back in the fall as to the results.

I was at a Unizin meeting last week, and had an opportunity to chat briefly with Burt Purcell from Penn State. He shared a great idea: his team keeps an eye on the campus news posts. When a faculty member is recognized for an achievement, he sends a postcard containing a congratulations. He also suggests that if the professor is interested,…[Read more]

Hi Michelle,
Thanks for sharing your UDoit guide. Your plan for a 2-part evaluation process sounds like a good idea! -

In evaluations submitted by faculty upon completion of our Teaching Online course, we found a common request for exposure to more instructional media tools. Our team had reservations about modeling and teaching too many tools for fear that the learning curve would be overwhelming. One solution we devised is to have an instructional media tool…[Read more]
