Second-Hand Courses But NOT Second-Rate Instructors (Issue 5)
Dear ADDIE:
Perhaps you can help us. My colleagues and I are noticing a pattern. In some cases, the instructors who created online courses are no longer the ones teaching them. I’ve personally spoken with a student who complained about the bad experience she was having in an o…[Read more]

Hi Kevin and all,
Thank you for the suggestions! This really helped me reframe my perspective. I now realize we need to look at the classes as all blended because they all have LMS instances associated with them. So the blended rubrics make sense and should help shift the thinking about how to design the course from face to face to blended. We…[Read more] -

We mostly relied on informal interviews and general research. Lack of time for professional development has been a topic of conversation at the college for a long time, including in our professional development and other committees. Our full-time professors teach a 5/5 load, which is definitely a lot, so it is understandable that lack of time…[Read more]

[quote quote=1658]Good question. Rubrics to review classroom courses and programs are few and far between…. Perhaps someone else knows of other quality review rubrics that are applicable to face-to-face courses and programs.

Hi All,
Thank you for posting all of the online course review options. Are there any options/ frameworks like this for classroom classes and programs too? To start I was planning on looking at the online ones to see what could be repurposed for a classroom course. -

The “Quickest Route” Isn’t Always
Dear ADDIE:
As instructional designers we are sometimes frustrated to see our faculty use publisher materials as the basis for their online courses. While it is possible to integrate these kinds of materials meaningfully, that is often not what we see happening. It is so tempting for instructors to simpl…[Read more]

I’m so grateful to have the grace period to put a plan together. Annette and I worked on the plan hoping it’ll be reviewed and implemented in the near future. We are going through a LMS migration this year. Many priorities have been shifted and adjusted according to this LMS change. While our faculty development plan might not be around the…[Read more]
