Thanks so much for attending the workshop and posting your Implementation Plan. I enjoyed reviewing your file, and it looks like you’re off to a great start. You were very active in the workshop discussions, and I can see you left with some new ideas. One thing I noticed was that you took advantage of the orange action items boxes. Hopefully that…[Read more]

Cindy,
Thanks so much for attending the workshop and posting your Implementation Plan. I just reviewed Sara’s plan, which is pretty similar, so you may want to check out my response to her as well. It’s great that you had the opportunity to attend the workshop and work on your plan together. One thing I mentioned to her was the creative use of…[Read more] -

Sara,
Thanks so much for attending the workshop and posting your Implementation Plan. I really enjoyed reviewing the SWOT analysis in your attached file. One theme that jumped out at me as I read through all three tables was time. I think we all struggle with that – never enough time! I know we can’t create more time, but perhaps creative…[Read more] -

Marilyn,
Thanks so much for attending the workshop and revising the implementation plan to meet your needs. It looks like you have ambitious but attainable 30, 60, & 90 days goals. I noticed that in Phase 2 you discuss using a rubric to review the current version of your course, which is an excellent idea. I hope you find a rubric that works for…[Read more] -

Thanks so much for attending the workshop and posting your Implementation Plan. I enjoyed reviewing your file with short and long term plans pre/post 90 days. Sounds like you’re ramping up for a big LMS conversion, and after a recent discussion with Page I believe we will have a follow up discussion to share some lessons learned from our c…[Read more] -

Samantha,
I’m so glad you were able to tweak this implementation plan and still make it a valuable exercise for someone in your role. This is great, and it gave me a few ideas for teaming up with our Faculty Center for Teaching & Learning to get more involved in our New Faculty Orientation program. When I first read your post, I immediately…[Read more] -

I’m so glad you enjoyed the workshop. It was such a great opportunity to share and connect with our colleagues throughout Florida! When I started to read your first takeaway I was going to encourage you to connect with Allison, but then I realized you’re both from UNF. It’s good to know you’re both on the same page! Lol!

Allison,
We certainly share some of the same concerns regarding participation in an online community and sustained engagement. One thing you listed that I think we could do a better job of on this site is “explaining the theory and research supporting learning communities.” Please let me know if you come across some resources that we might be able…[Read more] -

Wow, this is a short post full of BIG plans!
First let me thank you for your Phase 1 goals that involve sharing TOPkit with some many groups on your campus. I hope they find it equally useful, and encourage them all to participate in the community. Even though we’re neighbors, it can be challenging to get out of the office and see each other…[Read more]

Hi Geni,
I, too, find the Quality Matters (QM) rubric to be very comprehensive. (In full disclosure, I am a QM Face-To-Face Facilitator.) The rubric is based on a comprehensive literature review, and the annotations provide excellent rationale and examples for meeting the standards outlined in the rubric. The QM process is equally impressive.…[Read more]

Hi Otis,
Using social media is a great way for faculty to engage students, as it is undoubtedly part of our culture. Students increasingly socialize and network through Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, SnapChat, Pinterest, Tumblr, Google+, and other social media platforms on a consistent basis. Why not meet students where they are–right?!?
